Forestprep run on exchange server machine or domain controller

    Forestprep run on exchange server machine or domain controller

     when we install exchange 2003 and run foreprep where it should be run on same exchange 2003 server or domain controller machine?

    Personally I always run it from the Exchange Server as that is where the CD with the install on tends to be.

    As long as you have permissions on the forest, you should not have any isssues.

    Although I can not remember where Best Practices say to run it from.

    Yes, if your Exchange server is in the root domain then run it there.

    Reasons for running on a DC would be if you don't have Schema admin permissions and someone else needs to run that bit of setup, or if the first Exchange server is not in the Root domain.
