Hi,

 

Here are the details of our First Northern MMMUG meeting.

 

 

This event will be held in Liverpool at Gardner Systems on Wavertree Technology Park. For this inaugural event, we will have a variety of great Exchange content ranging from Unified Messaging with Exchange 2007 to using NetApp storage with Exchange. For more see below.

 

 

The meeting will be held on Wednesday 29th August. Directions to the venue can be found below.

 

 

The meeting will be a mixture of PowerPoint and Discussions so there will be plenty of time to run through your questions.

 

 

The agenda for the meeting will be as follows: (although I may tweak the timings slightly)

 

18:15 - 18:40            Arrival

 

18:40 - 18:45            Introduction to speakers and the aims of the group

 

18:45 - 19:30            1st session; led by Eileen Brown, MS and Paul Stringfellow; Introduction to Exchange 2007 and a look at UM and OCS.

 

19:30 - 19:50            Food!

 

19:50 - 20:40            2^nd session; led by Paul Hargreaves, (Net App) and Declan Conroy,  Exchange HA including the use of NetApp Storage

 

20:40 - 20:55            Exchange Questions and Answers

 

20:55 - 21:00            Summing up and suggestions for future meetings.

 

21:00                        The End!

I would like to attend this event

We had 18 attendees for the inaugural northern meeting yesterday evening, so can I say once again thanks to those that made the trip to attend.

I think it's more of an effort for a regional meeting that it possibly is for a London event, where to all intents there is a far more concentrated user population, and much easier travel to content with, so I have to say 18 attendees is a pretty excellent turnout.

Not that the event wasn't without it's technical hitches, the live CCR demo, and the NetApp demo both decided not to play nice on the evening in question, and we deferred to the HA slide set that was used recently in July, which is available on the download page.

We're really looking forward to some feedback from anybody who was at the event, and we're also looking forward to the next one, if the interest is there.

Can I say a big thank you to Gardner Systems for hosting the event, and to Eileen Brown from Microsoft for evangelising!

Thanks for posting an update Declan. That is really great news, getting 18 for a first meeting is good going.

I really hope you get some good feedback and hope that there is an opportunity to do another event. With a bit of luck I will make it up to the next one!

Can i add my thanks for organising this event, which was most interesting and informing, though technically a bit over my head at times (i'm a mere product / marketing guy and fairly new to the worlds of exchange / sharepoint!).

Working as i do for a telco / isp business,  unified / converged messaging is one of the hot topics at the moment and presents us with some exciting opportunities and/or worrying threats depending upon your take on it.

My own interest (fwiw) is in the deployment of Exchange / Sharepoint as a hosted service for small and medium businesses. We already operate a service via Mistral (www.mistral.net) and will be enhancing and rolling this across Eclipse and the other KCOM brands shortly.

We would be happy to act as hosts at our northern offices in Wakefield, Nottingham or Hull should another event be planned.

Aggain, well worth the trip and thanks to the organisers and presenters.
