while installing exchange, i tried running the dcdiag and i get this error:

Performing initial setup:
   [dc4.class] LDAP search failed with error 58,
   The specified server cannot perform the requested operation..
   The host dc4.class could not be resolved to an
   IP address.  Check the DNS server, DHCP, server name, etc

does that mean it can't even see my DC?

It does look like it.

What version of Exchange are you installing?

Also what is your domain name?

Is it .class?

If so that is quite a bad idea, as that is a single label domain.

 

Really you need class.com or .local etc.
