    Questions from October Meeting

    Hi,

Here is a list of questions asked at the meeting last night. I will attempt to get answers for these and then add them to the tips and tricks forum.

Anyone with answers feel free to post!

    Cheers

    Nathan

    1.   Check default level of LLR (How many logs can be lost when log shipping and then still have a clean database?)

    2.   Can you use transport rules to stop mail to BCC

    3.   What happens in 2007 when publishing spam rules to the edge; if five people get one mail and four think it is spam and one doesn't who wins.

    4.   Can Outlook with business contact manager be used to share calendars between four standalone systems? If not, then how can 4 people share calendars without Exchange?

    Re: Questions from October Meeting

    Here are some answers:

    1) In Exchange Server 2007, a new feature called Lost Log Resilience (LLR) protects Exchange databases from losing the last few log files and enables faster recovery. When an LLR-protected log file is missing or corrupt, normal database mount or recovery with Eseutil fails without the new /A recovery option. An event log with Event ID 523 states the type of failure. You can run Eseutil recovery on a database when an LLR-protected log file is missing or corrupt by using the /A option in recovery mode as follows:

    ESEUTIL /R Enn /A

    2) Quick answer to this is no.

    3) Will get an answer.

    4) Will get an answer.

    Cheers, Brettjo
